Beneath the Stars

Hi… I am just a girl in her baggy sweatshirt, alone in this starry night,
Finding comfort in the cool summer breeze, and the silent moonlight.

Sitting on the stairs, thinking Beneath the Stars with her eyes closed…
So tired of always being the epitome of same old calm & composed.

If only I could stay here & make the time still…
If only my unsaid words were heard, I know they never will.

Suddenly I heard footsteps, I was startled for a while…
“Mind if I sit here?” he asked with a childlike smile.

His frat boy persona is charming! – Heart whispered for me to know,
He seems nice! – Brain confirmed after the obvious first intro.

“I hate when I can’t sleep,
God knows why all these random thoughts live in my head.
You know when I was little,
I wanted a job that allowed me to stay up all night. “
– he innocently said.
“A house with the largest slide at the entrance – that was mine!”
Raising my hand, I blurted out, admitting that I was also one of his kind.

He started laughing, and I joined in before I knew.
Looks like a harmless fellow…
Would it be alright if I share a secret or two?

“Someone’s judging me!” he narrowed his eyes with a side glance.
“Ma’am I can be a delightful companion,
If you can just give me a chance.”

“What were you thinking before I came?” he asked, fumbling for something in his pocket.
My Brain warned me to be quiet, but Heart had its own plans to block it.

He was playing with the colorful candy in his hand, waiting for me to reply.
“Sometimes I struggle with coming in terms to my age” – I gloomily sighed!

Leisurely he looked up to face me with a strange warmth in his eyes.
The aura he radiated was making me reckless with my words, I realized!

“OK Lady Peter Pan, a couple of Poppins should be fine, I suppose?”
“Sure, why not? But not the purple one, I examined, scrunching my nose.”
We argued over the candy flavors for a little bit,
For those few seconds, we were giggling like small kids.
“Well, if something makes us smile, maybe it’s not that bad.”
I can’t really describe, but there was something so comforting in his voice when he said that!

I couldn’t help but fall for the words of this friendly stranger.
Sitting beside a girl in the empty ground,
unknowingly trying to change her.

We talked for hours about everything – the Black, the White & the Grey…
I can’t believe how easily I confessed,
the things out loud I never say!

Well I never really asked for his number or his last name,
And neither he did mine…
Still the stories we shared made it feel like,
We knew each other since the start of our times.

The stars were fading slowly, we know that time has flown,
As we heard the birds chirping, it was already break of the dawn.
We got up & silently walked around with the changing sky,
“Hey… don’t forget me!” he had said when we exchanged our Goodbyes.

This guy in that loose blue denim with a wide smile,
Turned around and waved at me from a distance…
They say the Knight in Shining Armor is different for every girl,
I know how mine looked like, in that instant.

And in the blink of an eye he was gone,
Leaving behind the same girl in her baggy sweatshirt all alone.

You might say what’s so special about talking to someone Beneath the Stars…
Let me tell you…
I’ve lived a piece of my long-lost fairy tale in these few hours!!!

The Ordinary Road

To those who are wandering on the road, so afraid to miss the view…
To those who have worn a fragile mask of pride, I was once like you.
To those who are feeling uneasy, to those who are feeling blue…
To those who are secretive and silent, listen to this story – it holds something for you.

I’ve passed through giant crowds, I’ve crossed mountains & seas…
Time never speaks – how ‘Tomorrow’ comes in a breeze.
I have been like you, like him, like all these Random People in the city…
How was I supposed to cope up in a universe full of witty?

I once had everything I wished for, everything for which I tried…
But they were all gone forever, in the blink of an eye.
I have had too many questions in my mind…
Until I saw that the answer was always there – in “The Ordinary Road” behind.

In the past I have destroyed everything, wanting to leave forever…
I fell into a deep-dark pit, losing faith in my endeavor.
I was hopeless, yet longing for something I had before…
I have been like you, like her, like all these Random People Next Door…

I have been disappointed, despairing, & losing my direction bad…
Then one day, I saw that the answer lay in “The Ordinary Road” ahead .

While you are fantasizing about tomorrow, wondering if it will be better or worse…
It’s just another day for me, to let my perseverance immerse.

You struggle, you fail! You learn to live with a burden & a sad tale.
Though you make bad choices along the way,
never give up even when you bear hardships every day.

You are not home until the road ends,
& it will keep moving, whatsoever your story pretends.

Keep walking like this, even when the wind blows hard…
Just keep going on, even if something has been torn apart.

The realization of missing something, will shake your faith to the core…
Only if you keep on believing your dreams, the road will allow you to walk more.

To those who are wandering on the road, so afraid to miss the view…
Have you been listening closely now, for the road have always something new?
The road is far and long, carrying mysterious and hushed stories along…
Don’t lose all your hope & heart, for the road is your destination since the start.

THE MISSING RAINDROP

It takes everything you ever wanted and then losing it to know what true freedom is.

Lana Delrey

Inside the room, they told her to dance in sync.
She can’t focus. Why is everyone around wearing pink?

What’s playing on radio is not her favorite song,
Swaying to the beats in her head, her foot taps along.

Sneaked out in the open, the touch of raindrops felt nice…
Breathing in the earthy scent, she strolled for a little while.

Closed her eyes, letting the breeze play with her hair that moment,
In the reflection of water, she was happily twirling around in her blue dress.

Amid the downpour, someone was calling her name,
She moved closer and was trapped inside the room again.

There was silence, yet a strange ringing in her ears.
The reason behind pink silhouettes dancing is still unclear.

Fearing the stares, she hid behind a curtain
Her screams went unnoticed and silence felt like a burden.

Somehow the air was thick, and hard to breathe right.
She tried to smile. Her lips agreed, but eyes denied.

She again danced chaotic, music not reaching her soul.
They were all angry now, coz her tears were in no control.

Afraid of getting lost, she needs to mellow down.
Good memories stay strong, this she has always known.

Surely, on her, the carefree spirit will take its toll,
But the blue she owns is very beautiful on the whole.

She keeps herself distant from her heart yearning non-stop..
For she knows, the only thing that can make her eyes smile, is The Missing Raindrop.

Happy Place

Diary at the bedside,
Chatting with an old friend of mine…
I don’t feel tongue tied,
for they have now known me for a while.

Shining eyes have a secret behind,
Songs I sing with the pictures back in mind.
Stories I hear and the tales I tell,
Scribbles in the last page – works on me like a magic spell.

I know my Happy place,
It’s in the clear blue sky…
in the comfort of the homely fragrance
in the showers of mid-July.

I am a simple portrait,
who always finds peace in a good read…
But I still need headphones,
to feel the Harmonies of my Heartbeat…

Moments turned into photographs – are apple of my eye…
I love to hear whistling of the wind as silence stands by.
My eyesight and imagination hold no space in between…
All my drawings still contain a tint of Kelly green.

I know my Happy Place,
its in those calm rays of the beautiful sunrise,
its in revisiting the long lost memories…
of my Favorite hyes, and Hardest goodbyes.
